I created another web ring this morning, and I really struggled with the question of if I should or not.
I recognize that many of the sites I most enjoy are written by women. I also recognize that many of the sites I most enjoy are not written by people who are exclusively heterosexual. I also find that some of the most novel sites are written by people much younger than myself.
As you've hopefully been able to gather by now, I try in my daily life to respect diversity in all of its forms, and to take care to not hurt people.
So, it was a real struggle trying to decide if I would create a web ring for straight men over thirty.
I finally decided to go ahead with it, because, once again, this is a community that did not appear to have a web ring to thread it together.
This is not to say that I am not interested in the writings of people who do not fall within this fairly narrow scope, it simply means that I would also be interested in exploring sites of people who happen to have those particular characteristics.
So, if you fit within this scope, I hope you join the new ring. If you don't, I hope you are a member of one of the many other rings that I belong to. If neither apply, I hope you leave a tickle so I can come visit your site. And if the creation of this new ring has offended you, I would truly be interested to hear why.

The way I see it, the people you're worrying about offending or excluding already exclude you from the rings they make up, so if they're about fairness and equality instead of special treatment or recognition for their uniqueness, you shouldn't have anything to worry about. That'll be two cents, please...

Don't worry about it... just do it...
