Filtering

We took Mom out to dinner tonight, and it was a miserable experience.

One of the sad consequences of Mom's dementia is that the part of her brain that keeps thoughts and words from getting out her mouth unchecked no longer appears to work.

Whatever the thoughts or words - no matter how inappropriate - now seem to find voice with her.

Unfortunately, Mom's thoughts and words often lean toward the the inappropriate at best, and the mean at worst.

Tonight was a particularly bad night.

I won't go into the details, but let's just leave it at it was not a pleasant experience.
