For those of you unfamiliar with the acronyms, RCA = Root Cause Analysis and LL = Lessons Learned...
So, as I've thought more about this little drama, I believe that there are a few root causes and associated lessons to take away...
RC - I second guessed my initial selection criteria.
A fast lens was at the top of my requirements list because a lot of the shots we take are indoors, and I prefer natural light to flash.
Flexibility was important, as were options.
Zoom was important.
RC - I chose lowest price rather than the ability to return the product.
If I were able to return the product easily, this would have gone from being a big issue, to at worst, a bit of a hassle and a small hit out of pocket.
RC - No amount of research can take the place of actually using something for an hour or two, but using it for a few minutes isn't enough.
The lessons learned are fairly obvious...
I will wait until a sunny day to see how the camera performs indoors and outdoors in good light to make a final decision, but right now, I'm off to learn how to sell things on eBay...
