I've held my tongue on the Iraq war up to now, but this headline: Iraqi Shi'ites Denounce U.S. 'Occupation' really pisses me off!
The only reason these people CAN make their pilgrimage is because the United States sacrificed the lives of over one hundred of our troops, and spent billions of dollars to free them from an oppressive regime which had restricted this practice for over twenty years. A regime which had inflicted untold horrors on vast parts of the population. A regime which lived in splendor while the majority of Iraqis suffered.
And this is the thanks we receive?
It really pisses me off!
Oh, and while I am at it...
Apparently, all of the looting is our fault too?
Gee, I don't remember hearing of one American who looted anything. From what I could tell, the people doing all of the looting were Iraqis. The Americans were trying to capture remaining hostile forces and keep from getting killed. It seems that just about every person in Iraq has an AK-47. Why didn't some of the people who are decrying our blame for the looting get off their butts and do something to protect their stuff?
It never ceases to amaze me. You try to help and all you do is get spit on.
I guess the old saying is true... no good deed goes unpunished.
