Jeanie decided she didn't want to sit around the house yesterday, Father's Day. It was a beautiful day, and getting out seemed like a good idea to me as well...
Jeanie's first thought was to go to the "beach" at Jordan Lake. We decided if we were going to go to the "beach," why not go to the BEACH!
So, we pointed our little blue coup toward the east and headed off towards the shore.
Wilmington NC is only about a two hour drive...
Unfortunately, neither of us remembered that as soon as I-40 ends, you have to turn back to the east to get to the beaches in Wilmington, so we ended up driving for another 45 minutes or so south, and ended up at Carolina Beach.
We enjoyed our walk around Carolina Beach, and then decided to get some dinner. We hopped back in the car and drove a little further south to Kure Beach, and ending up having seafood at Captain Somethingorother's which was decent.
After dinner, we took a stroll down the Kure Beach Pier and watched a beautiful sunset. We then saddled our pony back up and headed home, arriving a little before mid-night.
I guess there's still a little spontaneity left in us...
