Well, everyone else in the condo hated it, but I really enjoyed it...
The whole concept of going back in time and having one small change have significant ripples forward to the present just fascinates me.
I first encountered the idea in Ray Bradbury's short story "A Sound Of Thunder." Most people have probably encountered it in the "Back To The Future" trilogy
I questioned whether Ashton Kusher could carry the lead of a feature film, but I was pleasantly surprised - I found his acting to be quite convincing. I guess his portrayal of Kelso in "That 70's Show" is more acting than one might expect at first blush.
I'm guessing that the rest of the group's intensely negative reaction to the movie was a combination of not being Sci Fi aficionados, with the oft associated inability to engage in the "willful suspension of disbelief", and the dark and disturbing nature of the underlying plot and the circumstances in which Evan finds himself.
In doing some reading on the movie, it appears that the DVD version has a director's cut with an alternate ending. I think I'll have to check it out one night when I have no one else to watch a movie with.
