I can't believe it! I could have written
the exact same words! I've installed a circuit
breaker sub-panel in my basement and completely
wired my workshop (~5 circuits). I can do
a decent job on plumbing (e.g.,took a toilet completely apart to unclog it then reassembled and re-installed it). I've developed a home automation system that, among other functions,
calculates and delivers a custom amount of water
to each of 16 sprinkler system zones, based on
temperature and rainfall).

But I can't caulk to save my life. Why is it

Does anybody know a specific chain that sells the "nylon impregnated plastic caulk removing tool, and a single edged razor blade scraper"? I've been to HD and Lowes, in MICH. and the employees looked at me like I was asking for directions to the moon! Also, do you think chemical removers will damage a bath fitter?

After a few days, they just go away on their own. I've never figured out a way to prevent the bumps, nor speed the resolution.

I have some bumps in the back of my neck the seem to be getting bigger every time I check.It all started about 1 year or so ago.They are puzzie and some times bloody.I have a small cluster at the usuall tape line.What can I use to eliminate this problem?Thank You.

I have the same problem, it generally happens when the clippers are used, one reason is that they use a lubricant to keep the blades on the clipper from sticking and that lubricant contributes to the formation of the bumps, the bumps are really called (FULLICULITIS) its an infection of the hair fullicles, it can only be treated with antibiotics, see a dermatologist for the problem, I was told it may never go away

i have them too, and just like the above poster, I had a tendency to mess with them. I tell you what I was told 14years ago when I first noticed them. I went to see the university doctor and she pulled out a book and said how it was pretty common for african-americans to have this, well i am black so i was a bit relieved. but then she told me, i may have it for the res of my life. one barber told me to use Peroxide, and that seems to help alleviate the pain and infection.. though you can't use too much peroxide, it will turn your hair a lighter color. so I usually use it once or twice a week. whenever i don't touch them AND use the peroxide, the scabs get hard and eventually fall off, the problem i have is that i get too impatient and want the scab off immediately, which causes the bump to open up, yuck! i reapply the peroxide and try the procedure over, eventually i convince myself to leave them alone and they go down or away. HOWEVER, I can go months at a time without new bumps, but eventually, one small one develops, and i pick at it until it grows and grows, i don't have the serious conditions I've seen other go through (quite frightening), i usually have 1 to 4 at one time.

I have been trying a product that i found at Walmart called BumpStopper 2. It's a cream that you rub on twice a day. I have been using it for about a week and I will let you know how it works. It costs about $4. If this do not work I am going to try a product I saw on the net called PBF Vanish. It costs 19.95 plus shipping and handling. The web site is Vanishmybumps.com.

I have had this condition for about 5 years. I have seen a dermatologist and he prescribed Erythromycin Pads that I wipe on twice a day when I have a flare-up. He has also given me steroid shots in the bumps (which stung like hell) and they helped greatly. It's a condition called Folliculitis (which is a fancy name for an inflamed hair follicle). It is a Staph infection and is often incurable. It is easily spread by the barber's razor or clippers. It can also be spread by using a bath soap after someone infected has used it. This is often a problem in prisons, locker rooms and other community bath areas. Don't bust the blisters as you can spread it to other hair follicles and even other parts of your, or someone else's body. I have started using the Erythromycin pads the day I get a haircut and continue for several days following and this has seemed to reduce the severity of the inevitible flare-up. I have also stopped letting my barber shave my neck. Knowing what I know now if I had realized my barber didn't disinfect his razor in barbisol after each use I wouldn't have let him shave me at all. There is also the potential of much more serious bloodborne diseases being spread by a razor that has not been disinfected. I'm not proclaiming to be an expert just someone who has a great doctor who doesn't mind explaining things in detail.

I don't think those products your trying are for the condition we are discussing. It seems like they're used for facial shaving. By the way, I also had that problem razor bumps so I stopped shaving and used an electric shaver,trimmer which worked perfectly, I had NO bumps, and would use the clippers every 2 days.

Getting back to my previous post, I neglected to mention that my college doctor did prescribe me antibiotics (oral), though she said she didn't want to keep prescribing them. I think we all have heard of the side effects of taking too many antibiotics. Yes, the antibiotics do work. Now I need to be more conscious of where my neck rests and try to use my shirt or other clothing to rest my neck so it doesn't touch a chair, like in a movie theatre.

Thanks for all the info. I got the same thing. About 1 1/2 years ago, my barber gave me the same thing. I thought it would just go away, but I went to the doctor, after a year went by, because I got tired of scratching, and he told me if I would have come earlier maybe he could have done something. Now I'm stuck and he said that he could recomend me to a dermatologist, but there was little they might be able to do because I have scaring from scratching. Needless to say after talking to the doctor, I went out and bought my own clippers. I save so much money now and I also notice I'm going bald up top. So in a few years the scars in the back of my head will be visible, because I'm not walking around with a George Jefferson haircut, I'm taking it all off.

What's up fellas & ladies! I included ladies because I have recently witnessed this condition on a female which I believe was inevitable due to the changing hairstyles that they rock. Now that it's "what's up" for women to get their hair cut close, they have now fell victim to what was at one time exclusively ours fellas. So to those women I'd like to say, welcome aboard.

Now I would like to say thankyou for all the valuable information that everyone posts on this site, it is very helpful and comforting to have such a support group. I too suffer from the same condition. In fact I have or had so many bumps on various parts of my anatomy that I refer to myself as the BUMPMASTER!

My condition started almost 14 years ago now & I remember it clearly. I used to get my hair cut at the barber shop almost every weekend because I use to like to keep my hair sharp. It started out as one little bump that would appear consistently and faithfully after getting my hair cut. After questioning the barber I found out how little they know about skin and it's treatment. (I am very long winded, so for the sake of brevity I am going to get right to the point!) After having my first major flare up that I could no longer manage treating at home I was refered to a university dermatologist by my university doctor. It was initially called Keloidol Acne (not sure of the spelling); they were injected on two separate occassions and I was sent home with a prescription for the erythromycin pads. Years later when I again lost the ability to treat them at home and I had weened myself off of the pads, I made an appointment with another dermatologist and was told the same thing and giving the pads only this time. I didn't tell this dermatologist that I had been treating them on my own for some years and that they were markedly better now than when they were at their worse. (I really didn't get the feeling that she cared!)

At the present time I feel that I have control over them although I have occassional flare ups but never to a great degree. After years of experimenting and receiving false hope from individuals who swore that they had the answer, this is what I currently do. (Keep in mind that I am just a regular "cat" from around the way and by no means a doctor.)

1)Buy your own clippers and use them on yourself only! Get a good pair, not those dollar store chumpies. For the brother that is starting to see hair loss, you're going to love this because once you put the clipper guard on(use the #1 guard & invest in a metal one if you are currently using the frugal-man's clippers)& get that even cut that matches the patches, you will once again be "THAT BULL". What happens is that you will start to get a feel for the right time to cut your hair when you are less prone to flare-ups. For shaping up the back of my neck I purchased the "Pivot Pro Trimmer by Andis". It has 4-times the power but when you turn them on they seem to move in slow motion. They feel good as heck on your neck though.

2)Every morning after taking a shower and drying off, I apply "Original Formula SeaBreeze Astringent" on my affected area with a cotton ball. I make it a habit to keep this area clean and oil-free. Before going to bed and throughout the day if necessary, I apply regular alcholol on the affected area with a cotton ball. This too you will get a feel for. The main thing is to keep it clean & oil-free.(no lotion, grease, vaseline, etc. in this area)

3) You have to change your diets brothas! Cut back on the fried "ish", our bodies are not made for that. Bring your fruit & vegetable game up as well as your water intake. Add working out to this and you will start to feel better inside and out. Oh yeah, I also take multivitamins everyday. I used to use expensive ones from GNC but I don't think that it is important to do so.

4)Trust God! I believe in my heart and confess with my mouth Jesus as being the Christ and Lord of my life and He got through my most trying times.

I am always experimenting and trying new things so I will keep everyone posted on anything new. Just to let everyone know how well this works with time, I got to the point that I decided to shave my hair off completely because I too rock patches without the the close cut (#1 guard) and I really had a smooth bumpless neck area with slight hair growth. Well that was a big mistake, those chumpies regrouped and mounted up on a brotha. So I am back to rocking the low-low.

Some of the answers some of the guys mentioned seemed to work for me also for a while, but they never helped. I finally went to a dermatologist in Houston, Tx. and was told that this was going to be an on going problem if I kept on getting my hair cut close. The " derm " prescribe some antibiotics and gave me plenty of shots in each and every one of them. Man did that hurt. I have seen some guys' neck look like a pepporoni pizza and others look like a Mr.Goodbar, some get so bad it look like a big ball of "infected puss" piled on top of the other. I think one should experiment with an over the counter ( OTC ) product that makes you comfortable if you see results. Visiting a "derm" gets expensive, but you will have get results. I started having this problem at the age of 25 and now I'm 39 and still have the problem but not as bad. The other solution I've found is to just find a hair style where as that a individual is comfortable with and let your hair grow.

An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure... I got a haircut last weekend. Right after I got home, I took a washcloth and applied a liberal amount of rubbing alcohol to it. I then vigorously rubbed all around my hairline - side and back of my neck, as well as around my face. I did the same thing time before - guess what? No bumps so far!

I really do think that the clipper oil is the culprit - and I think that the "washing" with the rubbing alcohol serves the dual role of removing the oil from the hair folicules, and also serving as a disinfectant for any little nasties that might have been transferred from the clippers to me.

Okay guy’s here goes. I’ve had these for almost 2 years and let me tell you they are a pain! I’ve gone and seen a dermatologist and have been given a lot of med’s I’ll put them here: Retin-A Micro Gel 0.1%, Brevoxyl Gel 8%, Fluocinonide Gel 0.05% and Minocycline CAP 100MG (oral medication). I’ve been taking these and putting on the gels as prescribed for almost a year and no luck. From what I read they can get really bad and I’m sure some of you guys can relate. Sometimes I think that the dermatologist know there is no cure and just keeping getting our money. LOL! BUT I’ve been trying this new liquid stuff that I got in Mexico and it seems to be working better than the above Gel’s and Oral medications. If you go to Yahoo! or Google search engines and just type “Acne Keloidalis Nuchae” you can find lot’s of information on this. I also think as someone stated in this section that it has to do a lot to what we eat in our diets. I’m Latino and well let’s face it we Latinos like to eat a lot of “fried” foods. I think keeping the area clean from oils does help a lot. Use some sort of facial cleanser or keep the area clean. I’ve noticed that using Peroxide or rubbing Alcohol does work somewhat. I’ve haven’t tried using the Erythromycin pads so I’m not sure how effective those are. My dermatologist told me there is no cure for this. I to used to get the back of my neck shaved by the barber back in the day. Most important as someone noted :

Ive been having this same problem. Got it when I was in the Navy, and had to get haircuts every week. its irritating and kinda makes you a bit self conscience about it. i now clean my neck atleast once a day with peroxide and use this stuff called "Skin Tight." it seems to keep the flare down, gets rid of the more minor cases, but never totally gets rid of it. If you guys have found successful treatments,, by all means post them. I think we're all willing to try just about anything out.

Wow, there are a lot of people suffering from this. Well, I've known about others getting them for years and then I started getting them back in 1992 after shaving my head bald with a razor. For years they flared up slightly but after locking my hair in 1997 they got worse. Well here's the solution. I got this from a friend who also suffers from this. Unfortunately you have to go to a dermatologist for the prescriptions...and they are Fluocinonide 0.05% gel and Clindamycin PH 1% gel. You have to use both at the same time once or twice daily. Just spread both on the infected areas and after a week or so the bumps should go away. You have to do this on a regular basis.

I just got treated for this problem fellas. I tried everything from peroxide, alcohol, bump stop, and topical treatments that you can find online. I found all of these did nothing. To make a long story short, your best bet is going to a dermatologist. They knew exactly of my problem and injected the bumps with steroids. It didn't hurt as bad as other people have said, but maybe it depends on the person. They also gave me a topical treatment to use on the bumps. It has only been a few days, but the results are good so far. The only bad news is that I am gonna have to grow my hair out to prevent this from occurring again. The derm said at leat 1/2 inch thick hair should keep this from happening again. I am thinking about just cutting my own hair and getting a lining every so often. I have seen frightening pics online. Mine were not that bad, but I could tell it was only going to get worse the longer I put this off. I think the key is catching early as possible so you don't have as many scars. I am glad I have turned this corner in life and hopefully this is beyond me. Good luck with anyone who suffers from this.

Ok people help is on the way!! Now I know exactly what this condition is and its very difficult to solve this problem.Doctors call it folliculitis,other similar terms you will hear as well. This condition is the worse on men who love to have that taper look. Black men who cut their hair skin close, well all you old school guys know what I mean. Now they will tell you the condition is unknown, but I believe it comes from a fungus of some kind. Maybe one time youve got a haircut and someone didnt clean the clippers and this is how it starts.Maybe you cut your own hair and maybe disreguarded maintaining your clippers. Whatever happened it starts as maybe a few small bumps that get itchy and soon enough you may start to notice more and more. Now some may figure they will just let their hair grow and stop cutting it low, well this wont work. I know someone reading this knows just exactly what I'm saying. You will still feel them and you will also see them because they will get bigger. I found a solution for myself after spending tons and tons on doctors who shot them with hormones, and other crap and still no real results. It was embarrassing when you cut your hair low all the back of your neck looks like hell. Well I didnt want to post anything until I did it for myself and started to see results but this combination of things I'm doing has made these nasty looking bumps to leave, and even after years of dealing with this. Everybody i am white, and I dont think race has anything to do woth it. these damn things are so painful. i even get them when the barber just uses clippers. i do have curly hair and think that has alot to do with it. i have gotten these things for at least the past 10 or 15 years almost after every haircut. i actually have one right now as we speak. i honestly dont think anything works. i also get them on the top and side of my scalp as well. my lovely fiance works for an opthamologist.....one a month she will bring home a syring with lydocaine, inject the infected area and squeeze like hell untill all the goop comes out. aint love grand :)

Hello all I have had this problem a couple of times and I have had to do this. First I catch it before it gets bad. Second I go to the CVS and pick up some green alcohol. I shave all my hair off my head. It always works for me, I just started using another barber and it happen to me again. I'm a playa can not let that stop my game.

peep all seriously i have 2 bumps on each side of my head everyone says they're razor bumps n after doing research i realize its what you all have i haven't been 2 the barber shop since beg. of february and theyre still there and im not going to lie i love my taper and my sideburns and looking fresh u know im 17 and thats what makes me look neat and clean i really do not wanna have these bumps all my life i want 2 get rid of them and if anyone can help a young brother out itll be well appreciated cause 2 look neat i have to go to the barber @ least once every 2 weeks please help itll be well appreciated Ronald Johnson

i've noted what this is called and i'll note it again: Acne Keloidalis Nuchae. Just do a SEARCH on YAHOO! or GOOGLE or what ever serach engine you want. It's all in there. From what i've been told there is NO CURE! Here is a bit of info from a website: " ... Acne keloidalis nuchae (AKN) occurs when hairs on the back of the head and neck grow into the skin, become inflamed, and cause scar tissue. AKN is more common in people with stiff or curly hair and those with darker skin. These ingrown hairs are usually started following a short haircut on the back of the head and nape of the neck. The ingrown hairs lead to scar tissue that is a form of hypertrophic scar or keloid ..." - JOHN 3:16

I have had the displeasure of expereincing the dreaded and displeasing bumps as decribed above. I have tried the doctors, home remedies and over the counter treatment to no avail. I believe that God will grant someone the solution to enable us to get the cure for this ailment. However my mother's home remedy mixed with an over the counter treatment has proven more effective than other treatments to date. Where the bumps were sore and inflamed, to the point where they were irrated by me wearing a shirt, now most of them are gone and the most prominent ones are greatly reduced. I am not sure if further treatment will cure them but it helps. My advice is, until there is a tested cure then I would suggest that you get a doctor involved and try out different treatments to find one that works for you.

this is a cure before your bumps get too bad. my wife brought me some stuff called kiti kiti from a hair show and man the the cream is working for me. I had a couple of bumps that were increasing and I was worried about the scarring. man it works for shaving and all that. I ain't a salesman so don't worry. I work for Brinks home security so if u need a home alarm in Jacksonville then holla at me. just trying to pass on a remedy that worked for me

Hi everyone, i have had my bumps since 2003. i have noticed that clipper do play a good part. Buy a good pair, an use them only on yourself and keep them clean. Clean the area, an I have been using a drug called Fluocinonide. After a week the bumps have went down alot. Now I like to keep wave in my hair. I believe do rags played a part in my bumps, also when you sit in seats try not to expose your neck to it.

I saw in another post abpuit a medication called Clindamycin im goign to try that one to se if it will finsh them off. But I know one thing just lie everyone else has said the conditon itself is never going away, but if this medecine can keep them real low its worth a shot. I will let you guys know what happens.

i've had the same problem for about 5 years now. my dad got if by using a friends comb then i got it and then my brother and sister got it too. i've been to about 4 different dermatologist. infact, i saw a dermatologist when the first bump appeared but she was so useless, she prescribed something totally ineffective....the second one was also terrible. my third and forth ones say it's basically a lifetime disease now. i use doxycycline pills. the problem is that the moment i quit taking them the bumps come back. and my dermatologist isn't going to keep me on it for ever as that's dangerous. i've noticed that eating milk products like pizza, ranch and so on make if flare up like crazy. and fruits are really good, especially water melon. i hope someone finds a longterm therapeutic measure for this disease.

Hey, i've been suffering with this (Folliculitis keloidalis) since i was about 14 (i had just shaved round the sides/back of my head with a razor!) And so far the best treatment i've tried is Erythromycin antibiotic tablets, but as has been mentioned you cant stay on them forever. Its just a case of doing several things, not using a razor, keeping the area clean and not use any oily products, and using antiboitics like erythromycin. I've just been given Clindamycin lotion to use as well so will let you know how that goes. Thanks for the tips,like rumbing the area with alcohol and watching the diet. Its such a pain especialluy when you gotta keep your hair cut low. There is no cure, severe cases there is lazer treatment or surgery (although this could lead to greater keloid scarring). Its just a case of keeping it manageable and not to unsightly. I am glad i found this blog, its good to know i am not alone out there suffering.

i've noted what this is called and i'll note it again: Acne Keloidalis Nuchae. Just do a SEARCH on YAHOO! or GOOGLE or what ever serach engine you want. It's all in there. From what i've been told there is NO CURE! Here is a bit of info from a website: " ... Acne keloidalis nuchae (AKN) occurs when hairs on the back of the head and neck grow into the skin, become inflamed, and cause scar tissue. AKN is more common in people with stiff or curly hair and those with darker skin. These ingrown hairs are usually started following a short haircut on the back of the head and nape of the neck. I'm a white guy with straight hair and even I got these nasty bumps on the back of my neck. They started popping up a few months ago and are getting worse. I didn't realize how bad (or nasty looking) they were until I took a picture of the back of my neck. I'm headed to a dermatologist this week but I'm glad I found this board...but I'm also majorly pissed to find out that I now have this for life. We can put a man on the moon but we can't make some red bumps go away? WTF?!?

Anyway, I'll let everyone here know if any particular medicine from the derm helps. I like to keep my hair short in the back but not if I got these nasty bumps there. This sucks!

Stop BALD fading your hair out in the back, Use a nice hot towel not to hot though and clean the area and dont scrub it, that hurts. Just keep it clean. Hello i have had these little bumps of the back of my neck called FOLLICULITIS KELOIDALIS NUCHAE for about 10 years at this time they were at the worst stage that they have ever been. I tried about every thing everyone else on this page has tried and even more. My dermatologist gave me some antibotic pills and some CLOBEX SPRAY wich is a steriod spray you use twice a day, after starting this process after 3 weeks i do not have no bumps or scars on the back of my neck.Without insurance the doctor visit and medicane costed $250 it is very well worth it print this information and take it to your dermatologist you will be very happy that you read my sucessful comments.

Ok gentlemen, welcome to the unfortunate Keloid Ance Club. I'm not just a spokesperson but an active member myself. I have tried everything in the book and just recently read some researched which claimed that vitamin "a" helps to control Acne in general. The glads that are the culprit glands are the Sebaceous glands - glands found in the skin of mammals. They secrete an oily substance called sebum (Latin, meaning fat or tallow) that is made of fat (lipids) and the debris of dead fat-producing cells. These glands exist in humans throughout the skin except in the palms of the hands and soles of the feet. I too have had the steroid injections and have found that steroid topical creams in prescription form are far more effective than the injections. I recently started taking the vitamins and will post the results in a couple of weeks. In the meantime get to your doctor and have him or her give you a prescription of "Ultravate"(halobetasol propionate cream). This may sound crazy but once a flare up has gone away......that wonder cream Preparation H will help demminish the unsightly scars! I will keep you guys posted.

Go to see the doctor they have products that can supress it or even some cases help pevent outbrakes the more you pick at it you'll get scars GO GET CHECK SO YOU CAN FEEL CONFIDENT AGAIN, the WORST is when your sitting in church or in a line some where and people see them, Doesn't make you feel to proud does it? MAN! This is good...I found you guys! I've had these bumps on the back of my neck for almost 10 years. I've used Alcohol, Witch Hazel, Bacitracin ointment, Hydrocortisone, and Coco Butter to no avail. So I got slick wit it and did my own testing...Yeah you heard me I tried Bump control, and even Lamisil foot fungus cream. Hey thinking if it was good enuff to get rid of fungus in the feet maybe it'll... Hahahaha.

Here's what I found to help, when washing up use Ivory soap, it dries all bumps in the area up insantly! Let the soap dry up your your skin "DON"T RINSE"! Then apply Kitikiti "MEANS TO CURE" scalp & skin treatment (800)473-7130. I find this to work BUT still not a cure. MAN I WANT A CURE!

Wow! I feel right at home! LoL@da dude that tried the foot fungus cream... I think I did that too yo... I've tried EVERYTHING... (Alcohol, Peroxide, Bump Stopper, Skin Tite, Barbers Secret, Strawberries, Lemon Juice, Coco Butter, lemme think... was that it??? I dunno... lol... i'm doing pretty good now... what I've been doing is shaving my face and neck with a dipilatory cream called "Magic" And I also wash and exfoliate my face daily (except for when I use magic) I also read that disolving 2 tablets of Asprin in a little warm water works... just leave it on for 15 minutes. Well... I pray you all find solutions!

Thanks for your input. You saved my neck! I did follow your treatment, and thanks God, it worked. I actually suggested the Clobex Spray to the Derma ; Instead of that she suggested a gel with similar functions called CLOBETASOL PROPIONATE GEL, 0.05% so that it can be more localized to the infected area. It costs 3 bucks (with insurance, sorry). To accelerate the treatment, you can have some shots on those nasty bumps with the strongest of whatever is put in those syringes (10 bucks with insurance). It has been 5 weeks and those nasties are drying up. To keep up with the work, you should have monthly check with the derma for shots if necessary. I bet you will not need more than 2-3 rounds of shots with the continuing application of the gel.-Thanks James for the info.

I found something that WORKS. My sister had told me a while back while she was at the DR's for a visit and she had seen a VIDEO of the same bumps that I have. "Pseudo-Folliculitis" aka shaving bumps. I went to the DR and they told me of a laser that will REMOVE them 100%. It cost $920.00 but they will REMOVE the hair from under the skin which is the cause of all this. Look I don't know about all the cures listed above but one that I know that works for me is simple.....IVORY SOAP. As mentioned by Cee from earlier, this soap works, because its PURE soap. Then you pull the hairs out, and SOME of the bump leave. Also, stray from pickin the scars, they make it worse wich may leave you with AKN (Acne Keloadalis Nuchae. Yes, actual keloids on your neck! It turns into scar tissue. Ohh yeah, if you get your hair faded, you might wanna tell your barber to just taper the sides and not the back, or revert back to all around even cut all together. What's up guys.. I have the same condition in the back of my neck and I hate it!! I believe I got it from my old barbers razor that most likely he did not properly disinfect when I was about 14 years old. I am know 23 years old. I do believe is contagious but the dermatologist said otherwise. I went to the dermatologist and he injected me in each major bump. Thats what I call pain. He mentioned that that it is very difficult to get rid off. He prescribed pills and a cream but I did not keep up with it unfortunately. He told me the only real solution was to perform surgery to remove that skin and replace it with a piece of skin from another part of my body. Most likely my thigh. Man that would really hurt. I dont think that would look good I mean what about my hair? If anybody has any real solutions please email me importryder@msn.com Thanks guys!!

Hey guys i seem to have the same problem, Well let me start by saying all this started 3 years ago i got my first bump on my head i`ve been taking minoclyline for over 2 years and still no real results its almost gone away three times then i lighten up on meds and bam its back. Also the meds i`m on forced me to quit my construction job because i should avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight while taking them. Most recentley it spread to the middle of my neck i then went back to derm and gave me Clobetasol Propionate its a liquid you put on infected area i tried it and no real results .
In short i dont know how i got this but theres got to bo a reason so i`m changing my lifestle and eating habits because i know there not the most healthy. At first when this first apeared i thought i had an std or even aids but i tested ok on everything.

Well i`d like to say thanks to all the people who posted it`s gave me a lot to read and think about as far as treatments and causes

Okay I had the same problem. After you get a hair cut, Make sure you put Kitikiti scalp & skin treatment(non-oily formula)right after the cut.

When you're able to get home wash hair with KitiKiti shampoo with Aloe or any other shampoo. Then you need to use Kitikiti conditionerI or II(maximum strength) Then you put the kitikiti skin treatment on again.

Have had kelodalis nuchae for 4 years, since I was 21, only thing that has worked is rubbing alcohol and Tend Skin. That stuff has dried those bumps off , the only after effect is the skin on my neck hairline is a shade darker than the rest, but that's barely noticelable unless you rock a close fade or baldie. I only had a couple of small bumps, I spoke to my derm and he said I had a very mild case and for large plaques they usually are surgically removed.

P.S. Dont shave with razors with more than one blade, those double and triple blade razors cut curly hair into sharp points below the skin, that is what get the skin inflamed, once that skin gets infected that's when it starts to develop into permanent bumps.

Hey Guys. I want to tell you about some new stuff I found in Walmart called "Bump Patrol" It comes in a white, red, and blue box. It is a liquid and only about 5 bucks. I have this problem too, and I have found that when I have an "out break" putting this on about an hour before I go to sleep helps very well after about 3 days..

I am starting to believe in the strict cleaning and diet reform that I here from the others. It makes sense once you think about it. Excrcise, diet, and cleanliness makes for a healthy body. A heathly body can better fight off infection and bacteria. So give "Bump Patrol" at Walmart or I think Walgreens and let me know how it works for you.

My brothers, it's a shame my poeple have no clue whats going on. First of all this condition for the most part is permanent. It is not cause by dirty clippers or anything like that. It occurs when hair starts to grow back. The hair never penatrates the skin. So what happens is the hair starts to grown under the skin. Then you get an infection. Sometimes its pretty nasty. FYI Cutting your hair is A European thing. We are not supposed to cut our hair. I had this when I was about 9 yrs old. Since then I just let my hair grow. Nice long dreads. Good luck to all. Go ahead and keep cutting yur hair if want. Holl a at me when you have a golf ball on the back of your neck.

I mean!!! Just look at all the non-sence people post on these types of fourms. It's silly, most of it.
If most of these people would read and research before they say this stuff this would be a better source for aleast some information.
It is not true that barber clippers cause AKN, the truth is that nobody knows what causes it and that there are no cures. Black men are more prone but white men get them also, (I have seen one myself with it "AKN" FULL). Treatment is possible and best if done early!!!
I have a few bumps on the back of my head that come and go, I am presently trying to prevent scaring or full blow Acne Keloids.
Please if someone has good meaningfull comments post um but if your here to talk "smack" do us all a favor and stuff it !!

Save yourself some money and make tendskin yourself.Half a bottle of 70% -90% alcohol and 25 aspirins .350mg. Shake and let it dilute. Apply 2-3 times a day .It will help . When i find a cure i will post it because i am tired of this pain too

Well, I have had these beasties since the military. I have had them for almost 16 years now. The only thing that has worked for me is after shampooing, I use Neutrogena Body Wash (body shampoo that fights body acne breakouts) with a nylon buff, I wash the area thoroughly, leave it soapy for about 5 minutes. I then towel dry and use Neutrogena Acne Gel. This had been my daily routine since I found this combination works for me. Recently, I've added using, about once a week, Aloe Vera Gel on the same area for healing the skin. I get a bump here a bump there, but nothing really bad, sometimes they itch, but not like it used to. Like others have said, find what works for you and stick to it. Just remember, keep it clean. Also, just so you will know, Neutrogena uses Salicylic Acid in their products for controlling Acne.

wow.. crazy to see so many people going through the same thing..
i've had this for maybe 15 years now...
took about 3 dermatologists to tell me what it was and finally give me some medication for it...
he was honest enough to tell me that it can't be cured though.
I've tried the different soaps, including Ivory... tried Benzoclin, antibiotics and numerous other medications...
I was going to the derm about every other month to get shots on top of the medications i was using to keep it controlled, but honestly the best thing for me so far has been using ProActiv...
I decided to try it out since it's supposed to be so good for acne on the face, and it's actually worked pretty well on the back f my neck..
it doesn't get rid of it all together, but it keeps me from gettin outbrakes and from itching..
i haven't needed to get shots from the derm in about 4 months

All I know is I got some Pro-Active on Oct 10. I used it for bout a month and the bumbs where reduced by MORE than half and they where gettin even better until I ran out. Here is my list of things I try to live by now because it is clearing up my scalp so well; My Scalp Commandments,if you will.
1. Wash and condition head everyday with Nioxin.
2. Apply KitiKiti after washing head and 5 mins
before every haircut.(stops flare-ups) 3. Brush scalp with soft bristle brush even if
shaved or bald fade.(scalp exfoliation)
4. Do not let anyone cut or bald fade your head
cutting against the direction of your hair
growth.(Helps with flare-ups)
5. Make sure clipper blades are sharpened and well
oiled.(Helps with flare-ups)
6. When washing, conditioning, applying topical
treatments, use SOFT,SLOW motions. You DO NOT
want to rub HARD and FAST, let the product do
the work. The objective is not to aggravate
the scalp any more than you have too.
7. Work out and try to stay away from a lot of
oily or fried foods. (eat more Fruits and Vegg) 8. Drink Water, Drink Water, Drink Water.

What's up? I have been suffering from bumps on my scalp also for about five years now. One of my uncles who has been a barber for 30 years now saw my head and immediately gave me a bottle of KitiKiti. This stuff is INCREDIBLE!! I wash my head everyday with NIOXIN because it is a fabulous skin cleanser, then I apply the KitiKiti. I also apply the KitiKiti to my scalp just before I cut my hair and I do not get flare ups that way. When you shave or bald fade your head you still need to brush your head with a soft bristle brush. It is important that you brush your scalp as if you have hair on it when you shave or bald fade your head. Brushing exfoliates your scalp, so bumps may not occur in some places that it would otherwise. I have gone to Dermatologists, taken all sorts of concoctions that are supposed to get rid of the bumps, and nothing worked. Following what I have described above: Washing with Nioxin every shower, apply KitiKiti after shower in morning and before bed and also 5 mins before my haircut, along with brushing scalp even though bald or very low cut; My bumps are almost completely GONE! TRY IT! It's working for me. My wife is amazed at how well my head is clearing up.

What specific product do you use of the NIOXIN i went to there website and they have all types of hair shampoo's etc..... what is is name or type of that NIOXIN SHAMPOO.....Also i went to the kiti kiti website and i notice they have their own shampoo and conditioner... would U recommend that i use those. in addition kiti kiti has two type of Ointments 1 is non oily it looks like a lotion 2 is oil and looks like hair grease bottle.... i just need specifics to what you used.

Hey Jason! I use the Nioxin cleanser and Nioxin Scalp Therapy for Fine, Natural hair. It is the basic Nioxin product line formerly known as Bionutrient Actives. It is safe to use on a daily basis. In the Kitikiti, I use the non-oily lotion which comes in the tube. I recently tried the shampoo and conditioner #1 from Kitikiti and it is a BEAST! Well, at least on my scalp. It feels too aggressive to use on a daily basis. I don't know your condition but, Try using just the Kiti lotion, shampoo,& conditioner#1 until your condition starts to clear up and then rotate the Kiti sham & cond out with something else like the Nioxin. If your scalp is really dry and flakes alot, I would try the oily Kiti in the jar with the sham & cond#2. Just a suggestion. Oh! 1 more tip. I recommend changing out your hairbrush when you change toothbrushes. Annie makes an excellent soft brush that is sold for $1.25 at Texas Beauty Supply.com. I found your blog and liked some of the info. The following is some information that may benefit your readers.

Pre-Shaving Techniques:
Many people experience razor burn or other forms of shaving discomfort simply because they don’t take the time to properly soften the hairs before shaving. You need two or three minutes of soaking the hairs before you actually start shaving. Wet hair in the area to be shaved with a hot towel for 15 seconds before shaving or at the end of a shower. With the use of a good razor blade, hair that is wet through and through cuts smoothly and effortlessly. Hair that is not completely wet, however, can be as strong as reinforced concrete.

Cutting through such tough hair often causes hairs to be pulled up from their follicles as they are being cut. These hairs then retract below the flush surface to skin where they are at risk for curving back into the skin as they grow rather than out through the follicle. The forces required to cut such hair also can translate into more friction on the skin that can promote razor bump, ingrown hair, or razor burn. The key is to not dry your skin. While your skin is still wet, apply a shaving gel, Imperial Touch Medicated Shaving Gel. Wait a minute or two and then shave.

Shaving Direction:
Many people shave against the grain, thinking they will get a closer shave.
While this may be true, this also causes razor burns. Shave in the same direction your hair grows, (going with the grain). The objective is to angle the razor at 90 degrees. This shaving technique cuts the hair in an effortless fashion nipping the hairs at the grain and not against it.
Shaving in the same direction, will also result in less pull on the hairs and less tendency to cut them too short. Hairs cut too short are at risk of curling into the skin causing razor bumps and ingrown hairs.

Minimize repeat shaving strokes
Going over and over the same area may result in hairs cut too short.
Repeated shaving strokes increase the risk of razor bumps, ingrown hairs, or razor burns. It is best to shave with just enough overlap to avoid skipping areas. Use short strokes. With long strokes, you tend to press down harder.
This causes friction resulting in razor burns.

Skin Position:
Shave with the skin in a neutral relaxed position. This is the best way to shave hair close but not too close. Sometimes the skin must be stretched very slightly to allow the razor to pass smoothly without nicking. Excessive tightening of the skin when shaving, however, tends to result in hairs being shaved below the resting surface of the skin. This occurs because as the skin is stretched tight the hairs actually protrude out a bit farther than when the skin is relaxed. Shaving over stretched skin may cut the hairs below the flush surface of resting skin, increasing the risk of ingrown hairs and also increasing the risk of skin irritation.

Shaving Gel:
Shaving gels are important in the treatment of razor bumps, ingrown hairs and razor burns. A good shaving gel will minimize the friction associated with shaving and reduce the likelihood of ingrown hairs and skin irritations. In addition, avoid using double or triple-edge razors when possible.

Razor Bumps:
Razor bumps and ingrown hairs on the bearded skin are medically referred to as pseudofolliculitis barbae (PFB). Razor Bumps are caused by the end of the hair shaft being cut in such a way, as the hair continues to grow it curls into another nearby hair follicle. This introduction of the sharpened end of a hair follicle into another causes an inflammatory response in the skin and leads to a pimple or bump.

Ingrown Hairs:
An ingrown hair is a hair that curls and penetrate the skin with its tip within the hair follicle. When the hair curls and penetrates the skin, inflammation occurs. Sometimes, the small ingrown hair can be seen beneath the raised area. Most ingrown hairs occur in the beard area. Ingrown hairs can also occur in the pubic area and the neck area. Bacteria, yeasts, acne, or fungi infections can further worsen the ingrown hairs.

Razor Burns:
Razor Burns are micro-abrasions. In general, the nicks and cuts from improper shaving. These micro-abrasions usually lead to inflamed red bumps.

Prevent Razor Bumps, Ingrown Hairs, Razor Burns:
One of the best forms of prevention is allowing hairs to grow well above the skin surface. The follicle opening may prevent the hair tip from growing into the skin. However, not many people are willing or able to grow their hairs long enough to prevent their ingrowing. The following are essential key points that will help minimize these shaving problems:

Washing the skin before shaving is helpful in exfoliating. Exfoliating (removing the upper layers of dead skin) your skin is indispensable when trying to prevent razor bumps, ingrown hairs or razor burn. Daily use of a liquid cleanser before shaving not only unclogs pores, it lifts the hair away from the follicle while softening the hair.

Shave with downward strokes (going with the grain). Shaving too close is one of the triggers for razor bump, ingrown hair, and razor burn. The hair stubs are cut too close, get trapped inside the hair follicle and dig inward or sideways. More info on Shaving Tips.

Use a post-shaving product that contains beta hydroxy acid: Acetylsalicylic acid, the main ingredient in the Imperial Touch Razor Bump Solution. Hey everyone. I too have had this problem for almost 3 years I believe. For me, the bumps have only appeared on my neck near the baseline for my hair. I have some in my head but they have occured from me scratching them to where they became crusty. I used some Sulfate(blue tub) grease and shampoo and it cleared the stuff in my head but my neck still has a few bumps that are drying up.

You can find it in the hair care sections of places like Wal-Mart and grocery stores.. But I'd vouch for Wal Mart as you can get a bigger tub which is 7oz I believe much cheaper.. It's called Sulfur 8 and it comes in a blue top and yellow top. Blue one works better. And it also has some Sulfur 8 shampoo which is also very good. It's about $3 and a bit smaller than other shampoos at that price but it works very good. It won't completely get rid of the bumps on the neck but in the head it cleared them up in about a week.

If you can't find it in stores like Wal Mart then try the drug stores as that's where I first bought them. Remember, it's called Sulfur 8...

Good to see you finally made the decision. I think you'll wind up getting a more professional model next time you're ready to upgrade, then you'll have one of both kinds. This is what I've gotten into now. Trouble is, I always have the portable when I would use the advance features, and I have the good one handy around the house when I need a quick shot and the other's in the glove box. Cest la vie.

I would like to use StrokeIt to open my dialer, connect to my ISP, then open my default web browser. I see the default W for opening the default web browser but unfortunately it doesn't open the dialer. I use WINXP Pro, a dial-up access, and Opera as the default browser.

Any help you can give would be appreciated.

When Pebbles had the same surgery, we were amazed @ the quick recovery & asked the vet if she was doing too much too soon. He said other than a bird, a dog is the second creature most likely to NOT let such an illness "get her down". Their instincts won't allow them to feign illness too long because they'll be seen as weak & possible prey to larger animals (ie, hawks, owls, bigger dogs...) He told us a long, convoluted story re: a sick parakeet that he once treated and, I'll be darned if he wasn't right about dogs as well. I agree with Dennis - you were probably in more pain than Sweet Cali!
